An Anchor is a technique used in Neurolinguistic Programming, NLP. An anchor is a type of technique where you condition a sensory stimulus, to a positive feeling like calmness or happiness. We can do this by you
thinking of a situation where you felt calm, you remember this event if you are there with all the sights, sounds and feelings attached to that "calm" moment. You then start by touching your right thumb and right index finger together from each hand, take 3-5 deep breath through your nose and out your mouth to help connect the feelings of relaxation and calmness.

Doing this technique is like setting up a trigger (sending a signal) to connect with that "calm" feeling of relaxation. It can be incredibly useful and powerful technique to learn, especially at times of stress, anxiety, frustration or anger. You can touch your right thumb and right index finger together and instantly feel tranquility.​ Like any new technique, It takes practice and the more you practice, the stronger the "anchor" effect becomes. So start practicing!
